A Cup of Thrills and Chills(kills?)!!!

I had been waiting for this edition of the WC , for God knows how long. After that
crushing defeat served to us in a platter, by the awesome Ozzies in 2003, I was hoping that in the next edition atleast we will take revenge. So I was waiting with bated breath.
2004..2005...2006....2007 March. The Indian team wears a renewed look.A brand new coach and a brand new captain.I was pretty pleased with the whole outfit. Finally on the 11th of March the ICC Cricket World Cup was flagged off. May the best team win!
The early matches were no shockers. Expected teams won!
But that was only till the 17th of March. That fateful day. India lost to a spirited Bangladeshi side , and the Pakistanis to the minnows Ireland. Here, hold on for a minute, no one talked about the Banglaz aweinspiring victory ! All mouths were blabbering abt the GREAT INDIAN DEBACLE.For which Iam quite used to by now!
So , this is not all...the chills in the cup begin now! After the embarassing loss to the Irish, Pakisthan coach was found unconsious in his hotel room , in Kingston, Jamaica. Pakistan had one of it's earliest exits from the WC, as it had already lost to the Windies in the opening match of the cup! They found him in the bathroom , lying in a pool if vomit and blood. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where the Doctors declared him dead.
The world was shocked!
The 18th of March became a bad day in the annals of the game. The man who gave so much to the game is no more. Wonderful tactician, amazing student of the game, and an awesome coach, under whose reign South Africa almost won the WC. There is no good enough tribute for this man.
At first they ruled it as a stress related suicide. But most people who knew him said he was'nt a man like that.Infact he reportedly wrote an email to his wife, Gill, and in it he actually wanted to rebuild the Pakistani team. He even wrote an email to a website in which he writes , citing that he will maintain his obligation. Did he really suicide?
After the autopsy the police regarded it as 'suspicious'. Then in a shocking revelation...Radio Jamaica said that Bob Woolmer was strangled. They said that they sources were' very reliable'. The police said it was all media speculation , but , they did not deny it either. Then ,on 21nd March, the police confirmed that Robert Andrew Woolmer had been murdered. What a shock! Who will murder Woolmer?
Speculation...speculation and more of it! From Imran Khan to my mom , everyone has their own take! Some say, bookies (a.k.a Cronje), as we all know Woolmer was in the process if writing a mostly, 'reveal all ' book. Why kill a person when he writes a book? No wonder they say... a pen is mightier than a sword! Enough on Woolmer. I dont noe anything more to write!
Now to the great Flintoff ,and his drinking problem. That dude may apologise to everyone on the earth .... but he does not have the right to fill himself up with booze whenever he feels like! Then the joyride in the boat in the middle of the freaking night! What if no Hotel crew saw him in the water? Not only him but also the other cricketers who thought it was their birth right to go to a night club, after a match!UNICEF did a right thing by cancelling his visit. He wife may say good things about him, but he can't go on like this!
Now thats a lot I have written. This cup till now has, had its more than fair share of off the field action. Hopefully, the on-field action will match it! I hope this goes down as one of the best cups in the history of the game. It has too! I hope India goes to the League stage @ least. All the best guys! JEETEGA BHAI JEETEGA INDIA JEETEGA!
P.S. please guys @least win the match against the Lankans...

Hey! Sneha this is Neil. I was just reading blogs when I came across yours... nice ideas! But I don't really agree wid u on the English players issue. I think the ECB were a little fickle here... coz gal if you remeber after the Ashes win in 2005 , all the players got onto the bus and went around London consuming alchohol! Then the ECB didnt mind! So this is me a strong Aussie talking here! Keep writing these lovely blogs! All the best! Keep writing!
