I had been waiting for this edition of the WC , for God knows how long. After that
crushing defeat served to us in a platter, by the awesome Ozzies in 2003, I was hoping that in the next edition atleast we will take revenge. So I was waiting with bated breath.
2004..2005...2006....2007 March. The Indian team wears a renewed look.A brand new coach and a brand new captain.I was pretty pleased with the whole outfit. Finally on the 11th of March the ICC Cricket World Cup was flagged off. May the best team win!
The early matches were no shockers. Expected teams won!
But that was only till the 17th of March. That fateful day. India lost to a spirited Bangladeshi side , and the Pakistanis to the minnows Ireland. Here, hold on for a minute, no one talked about the Banglaz aweinspiring victory ! All mouths were blabbering abt the GREAT INDIAN DEBACLE.For which Iam quite used to by now!
So , this is not all...the chills in the cup begin now! After the embarassing loss to the Irish, Pakisthan coach was found unconsious in his hotel room , in Kingston, Jamaica. Pakistan had one of it's earliest exits from the WC, as it had already lost to the Windies in the opening match of the cup! They found him in the bathroom , lying in a pool if vomit and blood. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where the Doctors declared him dead.
The world was shocked!
The 18th of March became a bad day in the annals of the game. The man who gave so much to the game is no more. Wonderful tactician, amazing student of the game, and an awesome coach, under whose reign South Africa almost won the WC. There is no good enough tribute for this man.
At first they ruled it as a stress related suicide. But most people who knew him said he was'nt a man like that.Infact he reportedly wrote an email to his wife, Gill, and in it he actually wanted to rebuild the Pakistani team. He even wrote an email to a website in which he writes , citing that he will maintain his obligation. Did he really suicide?
After the autopsy the police regarded it as 'suspicious'. Then in a shocking revelation...Radio Jamaica said that Bob Woolmer was strangled. They said that they sources were' very reliable'. The police said it was all media speculation , but , they did not deny it either. Then ,on 21nd March, the police confirmed that Robert Andrew Woolmer had been murdered. What a shock! Who will murder Woolmer?
Speculation...speculation and more of it! From Imran Khan to my mom , everyone has their own take! Some say, bookies (a.k.a Cronje), as we all know Woolmer was in the process if writing a mostly, 'reveal all ' book. Why kill a person when he writes a book? No wonder they say... a pen is mightier than a sword! Enough on Woolmer. I dont noe anything more to write!
Now to the great Flintoff ,and his drinking problem. That dude may apologise to everyone on the earth .... but he does not have the right to fill himself up with booze whenever he feels like! Then the joyride in the boat in the middle of the freaking night! What if no Hotel crew saw him in the water? Not only him but also the other cricketers who thought it was their birth right to go to a night club, after a match!UNICEF did a right thing by cancelling his visit. He wife may say good things about him, but he can't go on like this!
Now thats a lot I have written. This cup till now has, had its more than fair share of off the field action. Hopefully, the on-field action will match it! I hope this goes down as one of the best cups in the history of the game. It has too! I hope India goes to the League stage @ least. All the best guys! JEETEGA BHAI JEETEGA INDIA JEETEGA!
P.S. please guys @least win the match against the Lankans...

GAFFES ,GAFFES ,and more.....
The cricket season's on...everyonez having a party. So I thought I ll throw in some fun too. Here are some good ones:
We have desi commentary in Hindi. Educating the Englees speakers.
Third manz not THEESRA AAdmi.
For the purist the beginning of an over is 'unki sesh aarambh ho gayi', and the end of an over is 'unki sesh sesh ho gayi'.
The maiden over is 'unki kumari sesh ho gayi'.
John Arlott made commentary a pleasure.
When the streaker streaked @ Lords;
Arlott: The old ladies in the crowd are seeing what they havnt seen for years.
On a visit to the MIDDLE EAST , FRED Trueman was learnt that his host had 198 wives. Acc to Arlott he said: Golly another 2, and he can have the new ball!
Pakistan are on tour to Oz land , when Greg Chappell was bowled.
Zaheer Abbas shouts " Faquih you got him!"
I am sure u noe what Chappell musta heard it like!!
Pak on tour again only now in England:
Bary Knight was batting when Rex Alston said:
There is going to be a bowling change and we are going to see Afaq @ the NursuryEnd. Was that by mistake?
Jim Swanton was a thing among the commentators, prompting his colleagues into " Jim is such a snob that he won't travel in the same car as his chauffer".
The election of the pope was on in Rome.So was a Test match Lord's. A crowd was waiting to see the puff of white smoke in St.Peter's Square at the Vatican. At the same time back in London Brian Johnston was commentating, he saw smoke belching out of an old Tavern:
Ah. I see that Jim Swanton has just been elected Pope!.
Here's one from Tennis:
Wimbledon.
Rex Alston drops a brick at a Ladies match"Louise Brough cannot serve at the moment as she has not got any balls!".
So on , these are the best ones I can find. Maybe I'll write some more when I find some. So that's that.
Here's one more:
Peter Pollock playing for the RoW slips and twists his ankle.BJ is irreplaceble:
He is in excruciating pain.It is especially bad , as he is here on his honeymoon with his pretty wife.Still he'll probably be all right tommorow if he sticks it up tonight." Dennis Crompton, in the commentary box, collapses at this.
Some Double entendre, isn't it???

Hmmm................
Sometimes when you watch a movie it touches you soo much that you can't stop bragging about it! And one specific character influences you so much that you remember that actor as that character. You start referring to that actor by that name.
For most people Tom Cruise is synonymous with agent Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible movies. For me Tom is always Jerry Maguire, or Charlie Babbit.
Well, the other day I say a movie , which I can say has been the one which has touched me the most in recent times. Yes Varshita..., don't groan I am talking about "Blood Diamond".You got it right, the Character is Danny Archer!
Set against the backdrop of civil war and chaos in 1990’s Sierra Leone, Blood Diamond is the story of Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) – a South African mercenary – and Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) – a Mende fisherman. Both men are African, but their histories as different as any can be, until their fates become joined in a common quest to recover a rare pink diamond that can transform their lives. While in prison for smuggling, Archer learns that Solomon – who was taken from his family and forced to work in the diamond fields – has found and hidden the extraordinary rough stone. With the help of Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), an American journalist whose idealism is tempered by a deepening connection with Archer, the two men embark on a trek through rebel territory, a journey that could save Solomon’s family and give Archer the second chance he thought he would never have.
Well, I can faithfully say that DiCaprio is the only actor who has moved me to tears with his action.Yes, He made me cry like a baby in both Blood diamond and Titanic. He is such a versatile actor, and I personally feel that he was the best for Archer's role. And that accent man.......wow!!
So, after BD I have watched 'The Departed ' . And subconciously I could feel my brain searchin for traces of the South African accent in Bill Costigan's typical Boston speech. Well , my mom'z still wondering why it got the Oscar for best Movie.
And I am still wondering why Leo didn't get the Best Actor, or why Blood Diamond didn't get Nominated for Best Movie.
It's got a got message. that message is best summed up in the this dialogue of Maddy's:
'People back home wouldn't buy a ring if they knew it cost someone else their hand'.
It presents the crisis in Africa in a way that every one can relate too.The rebels, the AIDs, the worst of all child soldiers.
Now, there isnt a day at home or at wherever I go that I don't brag about this movie. Go on watch it , you will want to make a difference.
Maybe what my mom told my dad when I was young is true. Maybe I will marry a mercenary! Danny Archer rulz!!

What the hell is happenning?
Shit!(Excuse me for the language......).
I am in shock....,or maybe I shud hav expected it...We lost to Bangladesh!
I woke up in the morning, and my mom says 'Morning, we lost'....'so, did Pakistan..' in an undertone. Pakistan lose to the spirited Irish. Some consolation.. The players yesterday honestly looked lazy, yes, LAZY.
Dravid won the toss and, What? Elected to bat? Why? It was nine in the morning...the pitch has moisture, aand he , well not only him...maybe it was the whole teamz idea. Whatever it was..... that idea sucked! It would have never ever worked! Crazy idea!!
Then the famed Indian batting line up goes out into the middle..,and failed as a group! Why play Uthappa when he dosen't open? Why did Sehwag come to the Windies? Then everyone just fails to lift their bat. Ganguly was nice. Yuvi was good.
The Bangladeshis deserved the win! They were the better team and they WON!!!!!!

Ugly Champs...................
Down the way,
Where the nights are gay,
And the sun shines
Brightly on the mountain tops...........
I took a trip
On a sailing ship,
When I reached Jamaica
I made a stop.......
So, goes the favorite calypso of the Indian maestro Sunil Gavaskar. Maybe he is still in India, but his comments are surely giving sleepless nights to one Mr.Ponting. Who cannot digest the fact that the behaviour if his team his way below the expected. He retorted at Sunil by pointing to his behaviour on the field. He asked Gavaskar to look at the performance of the Indian team, when Sunny bhai merely said that the Aussies do not make likeable champs, in his column in an Indian weekly.
Sunny said that the Windies were likeable champs, and the Aussies were not like that. This is true. I sometimes feel Ponting has to be whacked hard on the backside, for pointing fingers @ the Umpires. His behaviour @ times makes me wanna throw up!
Rewind in time.Go to the Champs trophy final in Mumbai. Iam sure everyone knows what Iam talking about. Yes. Iam talking about the Martyn-pushing-Powar incident. Is that how champs behave? Forget about the apology . that was hard extracted...Do they have to be soo drunk with the spirit of their victory, that they become absolute mavericks?
Maybe all champs are like this, then wat about one man who speaks as many languages as he does with his racquet? Maybe he is an exception. Winners like Brazil make their game look beautiful. And yes, they behave pretty good.
The Aussies going into the WC with injuries, and bad form will look to dominate their group matches. So maybe they should try harder to behave better on the field. They are all nice blokes off the field.
Tags remain SA are still labled chokers, despite them chasing 400-odd runs in that epic final @ The WANDERERS. Ponting has to work very hard. Or else as Sunny Bhai said with his morning cup of chai, theyll be whacked in a bar for that behaviour.
................................My heart is down
My head is turning around
I have to leave a little girl in KINGSTON town...................
Thats the first verse.
ADIOS PEOPLE! THATZ IT FROM ME!!

YAY!! EXAMZ ARE ALMOST DONE!!!!
I guess I am the happiest gal on the whole of planet earth right now! My boards are almost done! Just one more to go on Sunday! I did all of them good! My math rocked for the first time! Just commerce remains amd I feel confident. My life is going good. I made a few very important decisions!
I am sad now! BRETT LEE 'S out of the WORLD CUP! Life is sooo not fair! Poor thing he injured his ankle in that practise session in NZ. I hope he recovers as soon as possible. The cup is not gonna be the same without him! Australians now look very beatable! Now, this is what I call an open WC! Haven't heard that for a long time!
The Aussies have unknowingly made it an open cup, thanks to the, Five defeats in a row...and the fleet of injuries. Now anytime can win! I Wish India wins it! The way they thrashed the Windies in the practice game was....UNBELIEVABLE! But only an idiot can count the Aussies out of contention! As they say...wounded Aussies are worse than normal ones! SA looks strong now that they are no.1.
It's gonna be a cracker of a WC, and I aint gonna miss it! Catcha guyz later!!

What's happening???
To team India I mean.....what is wrong with them??
Find me a solution I'll give you anything you want..I mean, now that Chappell has made it clear that he wants to stay beyond the WC....all I can say is CRAP!!! What the bloody hell is happening to the team?? Isn't one attack enough?lolz!!
I belong to the school of thought which believes , well, that Mr.Chappell isn't right for the 'MEN IN BLUE'. We need a coach not a dictator. We need a captain who can complement the coach..not one who does what 'Simon(read Greg)says'..... No offense to the bat genius Dravid is..I mean, come on Jammy....We all know u r a gr8 attacking captain! Use your damn brain!
I noe they are playing well now... but will that momentum last? I mean, we have seen that happening too many times..They play well before the WC, when the big time comes..the screw up, nice and tight! OK..2003 was an exception.
Now that Sehwags back in the team, thankfully...DADA is in good nick at the top of the order.Young guns like Uthappa, Karthik and the likes have made themselves counted...the final 15 is going to be a tough ask for the selectors.
These guys should and..better win the series against the Lankans. And hopefully...go on to bring the WC home!
This is gonna be my last blog for a long time to come! Ive got my boards 4m the 5th of march...and there is the Prohibition act coming on @ home.
The Act Says:
1.No computer. No blogs.
2.No new novels.
3.Cut down TV time.
So.. there u have it! the examz are till March 16th. So ,
ALL THE BEST TEAM INDIA!
P.s.: I will try not to screw my exams.

Team Indyeah!!!
Hey guys I am back! After those steamrolling exams. They were ok! So back Iam to talking crap! Please bear with me.....
The other day I was watching , this beautiful movie called,'The Miracle'. It was about the USA Ice hockey team who went into the 1980, Lake Placid Winter Olympics, as underdogs , and ended up winning it! I reminded me of our Cricket team of 1983......pretty similar story. Then ofcourse, like all minds do...mine too wandered on to the fluctuating fortunes of our dear 'MEN IN BLUE'..
Oh! yeah......Men in Blue.....right now, their faces are of almost the same hue....., wins against the Windies have brought us a sigh of relief.Yet the problems remain...the same ones, pace bowling, middleorder, and the gr8 Indian debate:WHO SHOULD OPEN???these problems have beel there 4m the beginning of time..
They are facing a situation, which is of enormous consequences.
Their hiccups are still the same before each World Cup.
'Experiments', says Chappell, who the other day faced hell, while on the way to Cuttack, when was in for an attack. Dravid comndemned this act strongly.Sincerly , I think many millions of Indians loved it!!(I am in the club!)
Most of guys were in the 2003 final. They can use the experience.Problems right now are plenty..They have to come out of those...as soon as possible. As Boycs(read;Geoffrey Boycott),sayz ,Its all about doing the small things right.
I mean look at the Aussie team...just look at the way they bounced back..after losing the Ashes in 2005..they went back analysed their mistakes..and Lo! the Ashes are back with them! They trounced the poms for a 5-0 victory! Ofcourse England's self created problems also helped!
Or the South African team, in 2005 after losing 5-0 in SriLanka..they got themselves on a 20match winning streak!
Things can improve....Another bright spot on the otherwise murky horizon is Dinesh Karthik. He batted with maturity beyond his years..
Now that Yuvi's back, we can have some stability in the middle order.Dada's comeback was really good. Just the way he came back among the runs, his batting was proper. He played some good shots..
So, things can improve. These guys will have to play some nice competitive cricket. And get their basics right!
So, thatz it for now.....More on team Indiaz fortunes in my next blog.
So, all cricket haters can, 'BACK OFF'! Bye!

Please! Itz not anyways, its anyway!!
This is a serious blog.....It deals with a problem prevelent among many Indian youth..No, its not drugs, not sex, HIV is too much for a part-time blogger like me to talk about! So, read on.....
Picture this:
A college campus, with its fair share of kewl dudes and haat babez.A group of such people are talking , thier conversation is, ahem..... well puntuated with "anyways",.. for God's sake, or Pete's sake , the word is anyway!!! Not anywayz!!!Whats happening? Every Khan in the Bollywood flicks says , well you got it right, anyways. Even Big b and apna lambu, Abhishek also say the sickening word! Not to mention Hrithik(err..is that his spelling?).
Now moving onto small screen, everyone from the lovesick boss(read 'Armaan sir' in Jassi ) to the girl on the bike(read Ananya'Ek Ladki Anjaani Si), conveniently say "anyways"!!!The so called Hosts of the many reality shows that have sprung up these days also say "anyways". Sheeesh!!
Why do they do that? Do n't they knew its wrong? Do they keep saying it even though its wrong because its "cool yaar"!Some one has to do something...this is a problem day by day.. even my English lecturer says it!! What is wrong with these people?
Here is an example of the worst of the worst :
One of my highly respectible frnds to watch Hamlet which happens to be his favorite play. All was fine, until, suddenly like a bolt out of the the blue...an electric shock for the poor man....an actor in the middle of his sentence used , well, u noe it don't you??Thank God Shakespeare is not here with us!! They didnt even spare the Bard himself! This is amounting to nothing!
You should try telling them, you will be lucky to escape with only , a volley of abuses thrown at you! These people can do much worse..You might stumble upon people who might just say"whatever", after listening to all that u say, then give you a look which tries to communicate to the people around you ,that you pose a possible threat to them!
So this blog aims to tell all the kewl gals and hot guys(oops isnt it the other way round?), and ofcourse the wannabes, do not use anyways. Its not ANYWAYS its ANYWAY!! This is the only way thats correct!!ANYWAY!ANYWAY and only ANYWAY!!
Ok, thats all from me..folks! Ciao soon. Pass on the message,"Itz anyway!!".

All the worldz a number game......
Who are we? Are we people or numbers? Our world is filled with numbers....When you write an exam, it is your number which is more important not you! In class when teachers are taking attendance its only the roll numbers that they call..not names. Its unnerving! Why are we becoming like this? Dont we have enough time to notice people around us?
I worked as hard as a bee , for my music exam... and when my result comes it is not me...but lo! and behold !...it is not me but, hall ticket no.604023...who passed with good marks! Sad!, isnt it? C'est un abominable!
I will have to write a few more exams very soon.... and in all those its gonna be the number which is important, not me! If I by a miracle manage to break into a Law school, then its my number which is gets into a Law School, not me! This is not funny! This is reality!
Are our lives that insignificant? Do we need to be represented by soulless, characterless numbers? Dont numbers take away our individuality?I mean we are given names so that we have our own distinct identity. So when the results are being displayed, why dont they write our names? Why stick to those nonliving numbers?
They occupy too much space......they say, its easier to look for a number than for a name.God damn them! I say...I think its easier to remember your name than some obnoxius number..like 0023wjr45 or something! These days hall ticket numbers are more important than names! Sheesh! what is the world coming too???????? Is this the sort of number world we will be living in a few years? Maybe parents will name their kids with numbers! So introductions would be like,"Hello, my name is 12095467, what's yours?".I can't imagine that , can you?
I felt strongly about it and thought it would be nice if I Talked about it to u guys.....
On a more brighter side , the Aussies won back the Ashes in style with a Green and Gold wash of 5-0. The first time in 86 years. Now thats what I call cool!Maybe this side can dubbed as 'Ponting's Invincibles', maybe that's now cliched. People called them Invincibles long time back.Whatever it is those guys are totally so amazing. I hope Warne , McGrath, and Langer have a good after retirement life. All three of them were gr8 heros. Kudos to SHANE,GLENN and JUSTIN. I will miss you guys!Adios Amigos!
The Indians have successfully screwed up another test match! Hopefully they will find a panacea to all their problems.
I am hoping for a miracle to save the test! I mean , why send Sehwag to open the innings when Karthik played like a champion in the 1st innings!I am convinced that Guru Greg needs a brain wash! Vengsarkar ,what the hell are you doing in SA?All these problems can be solved later , right now let's all pray for an Indian victory! Come on India, dekhado! Ho ha India Aaya India! Rahul Dravid Zindabad!
K, guys thats all for now! Ciao. See u later!
