The underdogs ruled, didn't they?

The Irish are my stars of the tournament. They have caught my imagination like no other team has. Be it their win against Pakistan on St.Patricks day, or Trent Johnston's chicken dance. I shall be closely monitering their progress, so I can analyse the amount of threat thay can pose to Team India in a year or so...Here are the Aussies with the Trophy which they have managed to pocket for the third time in a row! What the hell? Are the other teams ever going to win? Can they only keep saying The Aussies can be beaten. Or will someone get around to showing it in the finals of a World Cup?
(To the pro-Aussies who read my blog..This anti-Aussie vein will continue only till Brett Lee comes back to cricket. Actually, Iam quite tired of singing their praise too)

The ICC Cricket World Cup finally drew to a close on a bleak note, last Saturday. Phew! It was so long and boring...The Cup, keeping in line with all the dissapointments it had to endure along its way...finished amidst much confusion. The Aussies who looked famished and beaten before the start of the tournament, once again showed why they are the best. They won the Cup without much effort. The fact that Mike Hussey did not have to bat too many times, sort of sums up the whole story!
Kudos to the Lankans for putting up a brave show in the final. But, what really struck me this world cup was the emergence of the minnows. Yes...I know the whole of India woke upto unpleasent news on the 18th of March this year. Our grief was also shared by Pakistan, who had to digest the fact that their cricket had been eliminated from the mega event. Then they had to take notice of the fact that Bob Woolmer had left them forever.
Now this World Cup had very few positives coming out of it. Ireland's stunning performance was one. Their fielding particularly attracted me. The spirit they showed was mindblowing. Even their celebration was entertaining. I think they really deserve a place in the LG ODI standings. I was really happy when the ICC broke the news.
Though they lost to the biggies, the game they showed against Bangladesh in the Super stage was too good. It was hard believe that they were a team of amateur Cricketers.I was really happy with the victories of Bangladesh too. They beat South Africa., man! They were too good through out the tournament.
Now, all this worries me. India is going to tour Bangladesh without a coach, and hopefully they will not suffer the same fate the Aussies suffered in hte Kiwi hands, earlier this year.
So.. see ya later!
